So many Spidermen so little time!

Well without the internet I was forced to travel to a magical land that holds many things from my childhood, a mystic place filled with mutant cricket spiders and spells of forgotten work, a place known as the basement of my old house that hasn’t been sold yet! I found a mighty treasure of a box full of the entire series of the 90s Spiderman cartoon that aired on fox. While watching through the first season I suffered from Nostalgia Overload, and couldn’t see anything wrong with this. If you don’t know what nostalgia is then it’s basically remembering something from you past and experiencing it the same way in your mind or you know rose tented glasses. Once the N.O. wore off then I was able to see it for what it really is.
This show had about 5 seasons with 65 episodes; many seasons after season 1 seemed to be multi-parters. If you are a fan of the comic book series then you are sure to like this as well, but you have to remember that this show lives in a continuity of its own and isn’t that related to the comic book itself. The first season its self is not an origin episode, in fact the origin of this universes Peter Parkers powers isn’t given till a much later episode.  Watching this show does bring a few questions to mind that I had with the show when I was younger though that were never answered in the show, such as: Why the hell does J.J. hate Spiderman even though he saves his life on countless occasions? Why do so many people hate him? Why does everybody so quick to turn on him even after he saves their lives? And most importantly why or why can nobody figure out that Peter Parker is Spiderman? It is pretty fucking obvious but I guess those are little things.
The first season also introduces the Venom symbiote, which is in a few episodes as both the black suit and venom itself and isn’t seen again tell a later season in a multi-pater with Carnage and Iron Man. One thing that I really like about this show is now it does the origins of many of its villains, from J.J. creating The Scorpion to Graves turning himself into The Vulture (though to be honest I like Noir’s Vulture better, he eats people). The show has pretty damn good writing for the team up episodes as well when it does so with heroes that had shows themselves at the time like Iron Man, Fantastic 4 and the X-Men. There is nothing good without issues however, for instance: Why can’t you color black people properly? And WHY THE HELL IS THE LAST EPISODE SUCH A CLIFF HANGER? I MEAN WHAT THE FUCK MAN!! But that’s just the nerd in me talking. Over all I would suggest watching this if you haven’t before or watching it again if you don’t remember its awesomeness.
This review isn’t over yet however as I decided to go over the other Spiderman shows that existed before 2004! I’m not sure if any of you know what a henchin show is, but it’s a show where the hero usually uses a device to change into a special suit, and usually has a giant robot, these shows usually come from Japan and oh boy did I find a great one. I found this on Marvels website actually, and it’s from the 70s and it was simply called Japanese Spider-Man and it was freaking awesome. In this version the guy who is Spiderman is not Peter Parker (go figure) but the son of a scientist, when his father is killed searching for a ship that crashed into a mountain (ship called the Marveler) he falls into a hole where an old alien gives him a device that gives him the powers of Spiderman and transforms him into the hero he was meant to be. Of course this show is a bit cheesy but that’s because it’s from the 70s and it’s a henchin show of freaking Spider-Man dude, I really recommend watching this.
The last show we are going to look at is Spiderman Unlimited that aired 1999 to 2001 yet only had 13 episodes. This show had so few episodes because at the time it was competing with Pokemon, and since the show was good at the time, it was doomed to fail. It takes place in another dimension with Spidey sporting a new high-tech suit with new abilities and new art style. I like to think this is where the earlier show was heading since M.J. is back with Peter and they are married but that’s just me. One of my favorite things about this show is the new art direction, it goes away from the CG old art style and takes on a more comic book style. In this world he is there to save John Jameson, because everybody blames him from crashing on counter earth. When he lands on this new world he finds out that it is ruled by beast people known as the Beastials who were created by the High Evolutionary, the dictator ruler of this world. I want to say that there is a message to this story, with the humans being forced to live in the slums and being ruled over by the Beastials but all I can think of really is Robin Hood. This series also ends with a cliff hanger sadly, but there was a comic book that with along with the show, and though that is over as well it still give more story and I recommend both the comic and the show even though they were both unfinished.
Well that is my look at sever of the old Spiderman shows and all are awesome in their own right, kind of makes me thing that there are few things that aren’t awesome that have spiderman in them, but reality still have time to prove me wrong, and no I refuse to even think about Spider-Man 3, that was just shitty.

Power Puff Girls VS Power Puff Girls Z

This is a review I originally wanted to do on my YT but could never bring myself to editing the video, and since a recent commenter suggested that I use some pictures I am going to try it here instead, let me know what you think. Today we take a look at the American Power Puff Girls versus the Japanese Power Puff Girls Z. Before we look at the story we are going to look at the girls themselves.
LET'S FiGHT! Pictures, Images and Photos
power puff girls Pictures, Images and Photos
As you can see there are a few changes, first of all in Z the girls have fingers, as well they now have weapons, not sure why since they are supper powered girls but guess it makes some kinds of sense. The girls are in middle school so they look older and taller, besides that they look pretty damn similar not much to complain about.
Now let us examine the basic stories. In PPG Professor Utonium was trying to make the perfect little girls and accidently added a chemical he discovered calling it CHEMICAL X! AND THUS THE POWER PUFF GIRLS WERE BORN! USING THEIR ULTRA SUPER POWERS! BLOSSOM BUBBLES AND BUTTERCUP HAVE DEDICATED THEIR LIVES TO FIGHTING CRIME AND THE FORECES OF EVIL! (start the theme song). That was basically it, of course their arch enemy Mojo Jojo, was also created in the accident, when the chemical X got on his head and extremely increasing his brain power and intelligence, and causing him to forever seek revenge of the professor, the girls, and all of humanity.
In Z however, Professor Utonium and his son are working on Chemical X and nearly prefect it, until their robot dog accidently nudges in a very sugary treat, changing the substance form chemical x to chemical z, not sure why the sugar does this but whatever. When testing this new discovery with a weather device shit goes crazy, and as a giant iceberg is heading towards Townsville Jr. takes the risk and shoots it with Chemical Z releasing both white and black lights, scattering throughout the city, because balance ying yang and all that stuff. The dog gets zapped by the white light and becomes a real boy, as well do the girls. In this story the girls aren’t sisters, Blossom comes out of a story eating sweats, going boy crazy then moving a little kid out of the way of the beam and touching the kids yo-yo in the process, she becomes a power puff girl and her weapon is a magic yo-yo; same thing with Bubbles and Buttercup, Bubbles with a bubble wand and Buttercup with a giant hammer. Like in the American version Mojo Jojo gets his powers at the same time, but then again so do all the villains here. Besides those changes the girls have to eat sweats to regain their power, and since they were changed with Z rays they are called Power Puff Girls Z! One more thing about the Japanese version is that they are proper super heroes with the professor calling them so they can henchin up and change into the power puff girls, and like I said though they are not sister in this version you never really see their respective families.
Now done to what matters, which version is better. Well asaid from the final episode of PPG I can say I have seen every single episode and for the most part liked the series, as for Z I have seen 26 episodes, and honestly tried to like it, but it must be the nostalgia but I like PPG better. Now I am not saying Z is bad though there are parts of it I didn’t like, say for entrance their weapons. While I do like majority of the henchin shows out there I can’t really say I like the fact the girls aren’t sister or the fact they have to hide their identities. As a monster told the girls in PPG in a particual episode when they try and be actually old school super heroes (like wonder woman, spawn, and hello kitty for whatever reason) I believe he said “Even if you take away the costumes, the props and the angst. You still have all the bravery and courage it takes to save the day.” That episode by the way is Super Zeros if you are wondering. To me PPG don’t need secret identities, weapons, or anything else they are better the way there were born, nothing against Japan but in this case the American version is 10 times better.

My looks on G Gundam

Before I do my first review let me give some back story as to why I am doing this one first. To honor moving in with one of my best friends, a few weeks ago we went to an anime event at a mall, to where we had a discussion “Dude no Gundam series had a plot” he said looking for a darker anime. I thought for a moment only to find he is half right “Gundam series have plots, it just depends on which you are watching, granted some of them are stupid like when they were chibi sentient Gundams that traveled dimensions for something about magic or friendship or whatever” he issued the challenge the name one that has a good plot and that comes to now, my review and recap of G Gundam.
G Gundam was a series that aired 2002 on Toonami in the early 2000s. It takes place in F.C. 60, where there are colonies in space from each nation and known as Neo colonies (i.e. Neo-America, Neo-Japan ext.) It is the 13th Gundam Fight were leaders from the colonies choose and send down Gundam fighters, where we fallow our  hero for this series Domon Kasshu and his mobile suit Shinning Gundam, later to change to the Burning Gundam. Within the first few episodes we are introduced to:
Rain Mikamura- Domon’s partner and love interest
Chibodee Crocket – Neo-America’s fighter, pilots Gundam Maxter. Domon doesn’t destroy his Gundam in their first fight because he sees his true fighting spirit
George de Sand - Neo-France’s fighter, pilots Gundam Rose.  Is tricked into a fight with Domon by the princess to fight for honor, match ends in a tie.
Sai Saici – Neo-China’s fighter, pilots the Dragon Gundam. Domon is asked by his trainers to take him down after his suit is stolen by thugs, gets Domon arrested and later fights that ends in a tie as well.
Argo Guisii – Neo-Russia’s fighter, pilots Bolt Gundam. When Domon gets arrested he helps him break out and then fights, Domon defeats him. Argo is forced to be a fighter as he is a permanent prisoner with a bomb stuck to his chest.
Though out the first part of the series Domon travels to find a man in a picture he carries around that is later to be shown as his brother. In the episode “Fight, Domon! Earth is the Ring” he is taken back to Neo-Japan where he is forced to relive his last day on the colony. It is revealed that the man in the picture is Kyoji Kasshu, Domon’s older brother. Kyoji is the creator of the Dark Gundam and its pilot who wishes to rule the world. It is explained that the only one who can defeat Kyoji is “The King of Hearts” who happens to be Domon. It is also revealed that the power that Domon has that allows him to win above everybody else is his emotion, manifested in his move known as the SHINING FINGER. “This hand of mine glows with an awesome power! Its burning grip tells me to defeat you!” that move later turns to the Shining Finger Sword, not that great of a name but it can only be used when Domon’s pain and anger is at its highest and the Shining Gundam reaches its true form. “TAKE THIS! MY LOVE, MY ANGER, AND ALL OF MY SORROW! ALL IN ONE FINGER! SHINNING FINGER SWORD!” this move obliterates most enemies but that’s the end of the recap without gives away most of the fights and the ultimate ending of the series. If you want to know more I suggest watching it.
Now I think this proves to my roommate that this series as well as other have a good plot. Yes it revolves around Gundam fights but that’s what the series is. In my opinion this series has a good plot, granted the “heart of the cards” like power is a bit cheesy I still think that Domon’s power is epic and awesome. It’s a story of not only a man trying to save the world, but a boy having to fight his brother and avenge his family while having to pass through many obstacles in his way. Some parts are a bit cheesy, character development isn’t always great, and this isn’t that light hearted of a series if that is what you’re looking for. Gundams series as a whole are mostly awesome, there are a few that I just don’t get or like for one reason or another but G Gundam stands as one of my top 3 Gundam series and I enjoyed watching it again for this review, I highly recommend it.

Introduction to Me

Well seeing how this is my first blog before i start posting things that actually are my views on things I probably should tell a bit about my self. First off Trench is for Trench Coat since i wear one everywhere, don't ask me why its more of a mental "I have to wear this or I'll get stressed" as well of a I don't like people messing with me thing. When I wear my trench coat people tend to leave me alone or just don't notice me, granted in high school most people thought that I had a gun on me most of the time.
B I grew up watching horror movies, since I was but a wee lad they used movies to put me to sleep, so most of the things I will be posting shall be horror movie reviews and anime reviews, yes I know many people do this already but hey everybody has a voice and why not listen to a crazy man?
Triangle, I also make LP on YouTube, under the username WolfyFreak, chose that name cause I couldn't pick between two different nick names I had at the time. All in all my name is Phreak, about twice a week I shall be writing a review of an anime or a movie and who knows what else, I am doing this partly out of boredom and partly so that it may help keep the small part of sanity I have left and get me through the rest of college.
